do not know if you heard of this movie, I do not know how bad you may have heard about. Pay attention, it is much worse.
things first: the subtitle "An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus" alludes to the Russian-born New York photographer, became famous for his portraits of strange and unsettling characters (dwarves, prostitutes, transvestites, but people apparently almost normal) and went to seek the dark places in America in the 60s.
The film is the daughter of a wealthy family of furriers and caring for her husband-photographer-advertising during the parades of animals. They have two daughters, a seemingly perfect life, even though she dresses like un'hamish and there are clothes hanging around the house as if the cabinets had not been invented.
Diane is a little special, like undressing in public and is irresistibly drawn to what is visually ugly, strange, exaggerated. Its family of breakfast cereal advertising is therefore of interest not too deep and when the floor above comes from a nearby pile exuberant to say the least, curiosity is awakened in her.
After a few laps around-stalking, oblique-figure climbing the stairs descend bald and wearing wigs beautiful tawny-manages to make the acquaintance of Lionel, the charming nearby suffering from hypertrichosis, which speaks in a low voice and earns a living by crafting with her abundant hair wigs.
Their first meeting is fabulous, not only Lionel looks like the beast of "Beauty and the Beast", a cartoon house with a neighbor, a contortionist and a bathtub buried where Diane is immersed in her slip and you make a trip psychedelic drug-free.
Fico. A little
Belle and a little Alice in Wonderland-haired, Diane is ready for metamorphosis ciaociao desperate housewife, welcome voyeurs of the world of freaks. Lionel is such a charming man who starred in the first wolf (other than Long Chaney) and was exhibited in circuses as a phenomenon, he knows all the places of the city absurd and brings us his new friend, who begins to feel a friccicore to the core. The pilu attracts more and hairless hubby loses appeal, even the poor will grow beard that can compete with the abundant snow man upstairs. But Lionel
hides a sad secret: he is slowly dying of a disease that undoes the lungs. Caught between love and duty for him to his pure and perfect Diane little family decides to break with the first. When it rises to greet him if he is completely naked in front of it (except fur) shaking a rasoietto and intimate "Cut everything."
Herculean job to say the least!
But our girl was not deterred and begins panting love to shave off the calf of his love. Do not miss this sequence to get you raises the following questions: Where do I put the hair off? How many blades will be used? And why Lionel starts to pant when she shaved her legs? And above all, why did you shave?
Why, my dear, at least for twenty minutes into the film the female audience has a right to see Robert Downey Jr. (Lionel), especially if those twenty minutes include the sex scene between him and Diane (who knows who we might want to have effusions after a night in the longest hair ever!): yes well, freak is fine, but we want a normal bed.
Hence the frenzy takes over: he wants to commit suicide at sea and there the door and leaves it on the beach, after having won a fur coat which he packed with his own pilu (mmmm!). She tries to imitate him but nun ja ago. Then he returns home, spring and part of her husband and daughters for the world to make his pictures.
The final scene sees her in a park populated by nudists trying to get to know a frequent visitor to convince her to be taking a picture.
So what we want mean? First of all, that the director is Steven Shainberg, the one that had surprised and amused by the "Secretary", the tale of love with the chief secretary masochist sadist. A film very economical thanks to the skill of the performers and the beautiful script has become a cult (fever seizes those who have not seen it yet) which talked about the emancipation of women, sexuality outside the box classics (so dear to American cinema ), of women suffering from staff become aware of their uniqueness and start off on a road that leads unconventional wing happiness.

L 'fairy-tale element (which also permeated the Secretary, with the lawyer's unlikely, the American family out of their minds, the laundromat where you could dine ...) prevails and becomes cloying ... Man, Lionel is not s' never angry! Never I say! A saint! E 'possible to believe such a thing by a creature so tormented by life?
I would say no ... I have a feeling that the basic idea was good (although not I would have connected with a real person like Diane Arbus) but as often happens in America, giving too much money and therefore too many rules to a director who has pointed out in a low budget independent film is a mistake. And so that is out of this mess!
